$375K Pedestrian Accident Settlement

Meet Victor Gomez

Mr. Gomez, a 58-year-old mechanic, came to Maximus Law after being seriously injured in an auto vs. pedestrian accident in Hawthorne, California. While at his shop, a tow truck arrived to deliver a vehicle, but during the drop-off, the car became dislodged and struck Mr. Gomez, trapping him between two vehicles. He suffered knee lacerations, extensive bruising, and injuries to his head, neck, back, and legs.

Despite remaining conscious and being taken to the hospital by his son, Mr. Gomez has since experienced chronic pain in his lower back and neck, along with numbness, tingling, and weakness in his arms, hands, legs, and feet. These symptoms have significantly worsened with physical activity, impacting his ability to work and carry out daily tasks.

After the accident, Mr. Gomez was initially treated with bandages and medication, which provided only limited relief. He then began physical therapy, focusing on exercises and stretches to ease his pain, but saw little improvement. Seeking further care, he visited a chiropractor for adjustments and targeted massages to relieve pressure in his neck and lower back, again with limited success. Eventually, he consulted a pain management specialist who administered injections to his knees and lower back, offering some short-term relief. As his symptoms continued to worsen, he underwent a series of MRIs for further evaluation.

Mr. Gomez works part-time at DNC Auto Repair, performing physically demanding mechanical work on engines and transmissions. Since the accident, ongoing pain and fatigue have forced him to leave work early or miss shifts entirely. The physical demands of his job, such as standing, bending, and twisting, have become increasingly difficult. On August 26, 2024, he underwent surgery related to his injuries and was unable to return to work until November 26, 2024.
